Drill presses are among the fundamental machine tools in any metal shop. They produce accurate holes and also handle reaming, countersinking and machine tapping. Conventional, servo-conventional or CNC?

KNUTH drill presses are conventional and servo-conventional. The operator runs the machine directly, while modern models add a touchscreen, variable spindle speed and an automatic servo quill feed, without the effort of full CNC programming. That makes them quick to set up and ideal for one-off parts, repairs and training. For fully programmed hole patterns in production, machining centers are the better fit. Materials and tooling

Drill presses mainly work structural steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and brass. You control the result with the right tooling and cutting values: low speeds and gear-driven power for large diameters and hard materials, higher speeds for small holes. Matching drill bits, drill chucks and reamers are available from KNUTH as well.
