Company

After more than 20 years in metalworking, Jerome Holländer has gone into business for himself. His company, MTG Machining Technology Germany, based in Neulußheim, offers machining, repairs and one-off parts for customers in the region. He invested around €190,000 in KNUTH machines to equip his workshop and is fully booked in his very first year.

From employee to entrepreneur

Jerome Holländer learnt metalworking from the bottom up, including further training in business administration. When his employer offered him the chance to take over the company, he turned it down. Instead, he took the plunge and set up on his own. ‘I made a point of looking at where the demand was and found my niche,’ he explains. He spent two years planning a workshop for prototypes, one-off parts and repairs using conventional machines

A versatile workshop

Today, Holländer and his company MTG Machining Technology Germany offer a wide range of services: drilling, turning, milling, surface grinding, internal and external cylindrical grinding, honing, keyway broaching and slotting, welding and CAD design. He machines aluminium, steel, stainless steel and plastics. Depending on the job, workpieces can be up to 2 metres long and up to 500 millimetres[CL1.1] in diameter. ‘I support my customers from planning through to completion. For example, I make prototypes and spare parts, repair shafts and flanges, mill recesses, or occasionally hone a classic car engine block,’ he says.

He also offers laser marking services[CL2.1] for custom lettering, annealing marking and engraving on components. Logos, text, QR codes or Data Matrix codes: anything is possible. His customers are as varied as his services, ranging from the automotive industry, press manufacturing and drive technology to packaging companies.

A multifunctional machine concept

This is why Holländer specifically looked for machines that could cover the widest possible range of tasks: multifunctional, robust and yet easy to operate. The biggest challenge: the building he had earmarked was short on space, and as a new business owner he had to work within a clearly defined budget.

He first came into contact with KNUTH through an online enquiry and a visit to the showroom in Bocholt. ‘Mr Holländer came with a very clear idea of what he needed and wanted to test the machines in operation before investing,’ recalls Tobias Hamann, sales representative for western Germany at KNUTH Werkzeugmaschinen. Several meetings followed, as well as a visit to the demonstration centre in Wasbek. ‘I was able to machine test pieces from my own materials, clear up all my technical questions about the different machines and take measurements myself for my workshop layout.’ In the end, attention to detail and professionalism on both sides won him over, as did the value for money. Holländer sourced almost his entire machine line-up from KNUTH, investing around €190,000.

Fully booked, reliably precise

When the workshop opened in January 2026, it quickly became clear that the decision to go it alone and the flexible machine concept were paying off. Demand was high from the start. Holländer was able to deliver reliably and take on staff right away. Within the first year, the four-strong team is working at full capacity and every machine is in use. Holländer is particularly impressed with the precision of the RSM 1000 C cylindrical grinding machine: ‘On a workpiece 100 centimetres long, I get super-precise accuracy of five thousandths of a millimetre (0.005 mm)[CL3.1] over the entire length. That’s exactly the cylindrical shape I need.’ He can also rely on the universal milling machines to execute his settings accurately to within a hundredth of a millimetre. With this solid foundation, he feels well placed to expand his services further in the coming years.

Tobias Hamann is also pleased:

‘The chosen machine solution offers a wide range of options for handling many tasks quickly, easily and to a high standard, and at a good price for the customer. This project shows that with KNUTH you can achieve a lot with modest means and be successful doing it.’

For small workshops and business start-ups, a reliable partner with a broad range of machines is particularly important.
