The lower beam carries the sheet, the clamping beam holds it on the bend line, and the folding beam swings upwards to bend the edge. Because the clamping beam only holds and does not press, sensitive surfaces stay undamaged. Repeatable edges are set through the rear stop and the fold angle.

On a folding machine a folding beam swings the clamped sheet upwards, without punch and die, which suits long edges, hems and sensitive surfaces. On a press brake a punch presses the sheet into a die, which suits thick sheet and tool-bound profiles. For clean, long edges the folding machine is the right choice.

A double bender is a folding machine whose folding beam bends both upwards and downwards. On parts with opposing edges the sheet does not have to be turned over, which noticeably shortens the work.
