With the 3D workpiece simulation, SINUMERIK offers you optimum help and security when programming and calculating quotations.
Contour areas that cannot be machined with large-diameter milling cutters are automatically recognised by the cycle for contour pockets and studs. These areas can be specifically reworked with a suitable smaller tool without having to machine the entire pocket or tenon again. If you want to mill several pockets and avoid unnecessary tool changes, it makes sense to clear out all pockets first and then remove the remaining material. In this case, you must specify the tool that was used to clear the pockets in the "Reference tool TR" parameter when clearing residual material.
While the workpiece is being machined, the tool paths can be drawn on the control unit screen in top view, 3-sided view and 3D view. The display and views of the workpiece correspond to the graphical simulation.
For the two variants Sinumerik 828D and Sinumerik 828D Advanced, Siemens is also offering a capacitive touch display with a 15.6-inch screen diagonal for the first time with the Panel Processing Unit (PPU) 290. The touch display can be operated using single-touch gestures. According to Siemens, the full QWERTY keyboard integrated into the housing below the screen enables fast input, for example for programming CNC tasks. The wider 16:9 screen with a resolution of 1366 x 678 pixels offers more space for detailed displays. This makes the 15.6-inch display particularly suitable for displaying two channels, for example during turning and grinding, on the Sinumerik 828D Advanced.
The ultra-compact OMP40-2 (40 mm diameter) touch-trigger probe with optical transmission provides a flexible probing solution. The OMP40 is suitable for small to medium machining centres.
