When Mitre Cuts Are Part of Everyday Production: The New HB DL Series for Steel Construction and Manufacturing

Machines & Products
The new HB DL Series expands the KNUTH portfolio with robust semi-automatic double-mitre band saws for operations where mitre cutting is part of everyday production.
Whether processing structural beams, profiles, or tubes, mitre cuts are part of everyday operations in many steel construction, metal fabrication, and manufacturing environments. Especially when working with long workpieces, every change in cutting angle requires additional time for alignment, clamping, and positioning.
The ability to perform mitre cuts to the left and right without repositioning the workpiece simplifies the workflow and reduces the effort required for re-clamping.
To address these requirements, KNUTH is expanding its band saw portfolio with the new HB DL Series. These semi-automatic double-mitre band saws were developed for users who regularly perform mitre cuts and require both industrial-grade quality and straightforward operation.
With the HB 440 DL and HB 560 DL, the series offers a solution for companies in steel construction, metal fabrication, and machinery and plant engineering.
Mitre Cuts Without Re-Clamping
The machines of the HB DL Series enable mitre cuts to the left and right without requiring the material to be repositioned when changing cutting direction. This simplifies workflows, particularly in applications involving frequently changing cut angles.
With swivel ranges of up to +45° and -60°, both models offer the flexibility required for a wide variety of cutting tasks in steel construction, metal fabrication, and manufacturing.
The selected mitre angle is shown on a digital display, while the saw frame is hydraulically locked in position. This ensures that the chosen angle remains securely maintained, even during demanding cutting operations.
Two Models for Different Requirements
The HB DL Series includes the HB 440 DL and HB 560 DL. Both machines are based on the same design concept and provide precise double-mitre cutting capabilities for different workpiece sizes and application requirements.
While the HB 440 DL is designed for a wide range of applications in metal fabrication and manufacturing, the HB 560 DL offers additional capacity for larger profiles, tubes, and heavy workpieces used in steel construction and plant engineering.
Robust Construction for Daily Use
The HB DL Series was developed for continuous use in manufacturing, steel construction, and metalworking environments. Its rigid dual-column design and torsion-resistant machine structure ensure smooth operation and precise cutting results, even when processing larger workpieces.
The heavy-duty welded construction reflects the industrial-grade design of the series and provides a high level of process reliability during continuous operation.
Hydraulic material clamping, adjustable feed control, and infinitely variable blade speeds allow flexible adaptation to different materials and cross-sections. Additional features include automatic blade breakage monitoring, a digital angle display, and a high-performance coolant system.
As a result, the HB DL Series combines high process reliability with straightforward operation in daily production environments.
“When mitre angles change frequently, simple workflows, repeatable results, and a high level of process reliability are essential. The HB DL Series was developed for users who want to perform precise mitre cuts efficiently while keeping setup time and effort to a minimum.”
